Swiss Confederation, is a federal republic composed of 26 cantons, with federal authorities based in Bern. It is geographically divided among the Swiss Plateau, the Alps and the Jura. The Alps occupy the greater part of the territory. The Swiss populationis concentrated mostly on the plateau, where the largest cities and economic centres are located: Zürich, Geneva and Basel. Economy:
The service sector has come to play a significant economic role, particularly the Swiss banking industry and tourism. It ranked first in the world since 2015 Global Innovation Index and third in the 2020 Global Competitiveness Report. It follows the developed country model with respect to the economic sectors. Only a small minority of the workers are involved in the primary or agricultural sector (1.3%) while a larger minority is involved in the secondary or manufacturing sector (27.7%)
