Republic of Uzbekistan is a doubly landlocked country located in Central Asia. It is surrounded by five landlocked countries. It is part of the Turkic world, as well as a member of the Organization of Turkic States. The Uzbek language is the majority -spoken language in It. Islam is the predominant religion in Uzbekistan, most Uzbeks being Sunni Muslims. Since independence, It continues to exist as a Soviet-style command economy, with a slow transformation to a market economy. The progress of governmental economic policy reforms has been cautious, but cumulatively Uzbekistan has shown respectable achievements. Its restrictive trade regime and generally interventionist policies continue to have a negative effect on it.
